Birds of a feather...

....are starting to flock together.  Here's a pic of the borders that I've been working on for my "Winter Garden" quilt.  As you can see, I have all the pieces appliqued down, I just need to make lots and lots more berries to applique on those bottom two borders like I have on the top two borders.  But we're getting closer to having the borders done so I can get the whole top put together and start quilting it.  And since I've got the date as a design element of the quilt top, I've got just a few more months to get it finished!  I started this one in October 2011, so will probably be right at a year getting it finished.

  1. Oh, I love everything about those borders...the applique, the birds, the vines, the berries, the date, AND the colors. IS this your own design? Pattern for the rest of us? =)

  2. Thanks, Sue. These borders are going on a quilt that's called "Winter Garden" from the "When The Cold Wind Blows" book by Blackbird Designs. The WG quilt pattern doesn't have any borders on it, but I wanted to add some to mine. So I got the idea for these borders from another pattern in the same book and then modified it some to make it a little more "me".

  3. Eddie, you're doing great! Several years ago (let's not say just how many), I decided that one of my crazies was getting close to being finished. So, I embroidered the year. Big mistake! It's embarrassing to see it even when I'm alone! It's good that I enjoy the process as much as I do the finished project.

  4. Thanks, Sherry. I finished appliqueing my LAST berry on the LAST border tonight, so the borders are ready to go on now. Hurray! I WILL get it done before the end of the year! :)
